Anti-Prostate Cancer Art Party

The Party: "The Fine Line" Benefit Art Auction
Location: Open House Gallery in Soho
Total party Count: 26

Keren & James are key players in my party project as of late. On Friday, James had one of his photos up for auction at the party for "The Fine Line"- a fund-raising exhibit for prostate cancer.

In keeping with the men's health theme, all the art was mustache-inspired. Keren then told me about a different event she once went to for breast cancer where everything was breast-inspired. In the spirit of gender equality, we agreed that either breast cancer art doesn't need to be so literal, or mens prostate/testicular events need to start showing us some D. Please send me a private message if you want more cancer jokes.

1 in 3 american women will develop cancer in her lifetime. also 1 in 2 bros. waaaaaaah!!!!!!!!!

"New York I Love You" Premiere Party

The Party: "New York I Love You" Premiere Afterparty
Location: M2 Ultra Lounge on 10th &28th
Total Party Count: 25

New York I Love You, but this movie really sucked and so did your afterparty. After waiting over an hour for the premiere screening of "New York I Love You" at the Ziegfeld to start (i had free tickets, tevs), and then suffering much worse once it actually began playing, I had had enough fun by the time the last crappy sappy scene rolled. Unfortunately no part of that evening qualified as a party, so I finagled my way into the afterparty at a space called, ahem, M2 Ultra Lounge. This event was just slightly more memorable than sitting alone at home all night, but also more likely to give you an STD by osmosis.

Yeah New York!

Boutique Opening Party

The Party: Miss Lonelyheart's Boutique Opening Party
Location: 250 Broome St. in the L.E.S.
Total Party Count: 24

In need of a Tuesday night party, I went to the launch party for the new clothing shop Miss Lonelyhearts in the Lower East Side, joined by my friend Keren (two nights in a row!). I didn't know anything about the store prior to going but it seems pretty cute. More importantly, they had these amazing little mochi ice cream things!

The drink is a prop, the snack is real.

Afterwards I met some new secret friends who do this hilarious site Stuff Hipsters Hate at the Williamsburg dump that is The Charleston. Maybe they were there to get some material. Turned out to be trivia night there, which I was happy to witness because now I know that this whole trivia-night-trend that is sweeping new york is totally lame.

Trivia Night = NOT A PARTY!!!

Then I ran into one of the Finger on the Pulse twins (he has a name- Greg) as I was getting off the train and he brought me to the scion radio DJ night at Plan B in the East Village.

Still technically not a party, but more of a party than trivia night.

Ladies' Crafts Party

The Party: Arts & Crafts Night
Location: Keren's Apt in Williamsburg
Total Party Count: 23

My friend Keren is the hostess with the mostess! On Monday night she invited us over for a crafts party and we made tassle necklaces and bedazzled caps. My favorite part was when her boyfriend James made us spaghetti. My worst part was when I voted to watch Jon & Kate + 8 but everyone else wanted Gossip Girl.... aaaaah so ZZZZZZzzzzzzzz. I used to go to Keren's all the time to watch Gossip Girl / The City even though they both stink.

see my necklace? yeah, i invented it.

James lets Keren dress him up in crafts!!!

Hipsters on a Rooftop Party

The Party: Hipsters on a Rooftop
Location: Spencer Sweeney's apt in the L.E.S.
Total Party Count: 22

I felt kind of sick on friday and almost had to skip a party but i didnt want to let you down. I put on a dumb dress and in the middle of the drizzly night i begrudgingly walked over to a rooftop party on ludlow st. hosted by the artist spencey sweeney with someone from gang gang dance DJing.

I might have had a fine time, but I didnt. I felt so tired that it required vast amounts of energy to form a sentence, not even a funny one! my attempt at dancing was little more than a half-hearted step-and-touch routine lasting one whole song, with which I concluded another awesome night of partying! Apparently I left too soon cause I missed a huge fight with broken bottles and blood and everything!!

(Ed.-- I really did get sick this weekend and had to stay home-- but now I'm back and better than ever! Watch out world.)

a kewl party trick!

Pizza Movie After-Pizza-Party

The Party: Rock-afire Explosion Afterparty
Location: Heather's Bar in the East Village
Total Party Count: 21

My friend Kevin Pedersen does a Pizza Party DJ Night on Thursdays at Heathers Bar, and this week was a special one because it was the afterparty to the premiere screening of the new Pizza Thriller Rock-Afire Explosion.

So I headed over there and saw some bros, but the rest of the people, idunno who they were, just random people who go to random bars. Riding my bike down Avenue A i couldnt believe how many people were out, just going to dumb bars..... not even for a pizza party.....not even for a blog! who are these people??? Sometimes I wish i had registered www.packing-cute-surprises-in-my-kids-lunchboxes-a-day.com instead.

Disco Book Dance Party

The Party: Launch Party for "The Disco Files"
Location: Santo's Party House
Total Party Count: 20

Theres a new book in the world called The Disco Files 1973-78: New York's Underground Week by Week, and there was a big disco dance party for it. Being that i love disco, i love dancing, and i am ambivalent about partying but have no choice in the matter, i decided to walk down the block to santo's party house to check out the fete!

Well I didn't know a single person there, but the good thing about being a girl is there are always plenty of men hoping to rape you, so its easy to make new friends! I didn't think I'd end up dancing, but the DJ was spinning some amazing early disco, and I was totally into it even after having drank nothing but lemonade all day (hello detox day 2). I even hustle partner-danced with some old timers. They put all the young dudes and their "freestyle" "moves" to shame- pssssh.

BAM Art Party

The Party: BAM's Next Wave Art Opening
Location: Brooklyn Academy of Music
Total Party Count: 19

On Tuesday I wanted to knock out my party obligation as fast as possible cause i started the master cleanse detox and was totally braindead. Well lucky for me, Brooklyn Academy of Music was hosting an opening reception party for their "Next Wave" art exhibit, so i headed over there straight from work. What better chance to explore Brooklyn's burgeoning art scene!

As I perused the accompanying literature I was interrupted by my friend Dr. Maz, DJ and dentist extraordinaire! He was all "what are you doing here?" and I was all "oh you know, just checkin' out ART, duh" and he was all "are you here for your party blog?" - BUSTED! Maz's sister Diana is one of the featured artists in the exhibit.

The Al-Hadid Siblings!

I think this would look great in the living room.

Bad-Surprise Birthday Party

The Party: Kevin's Bad-Surprise Birthday Party
Location: My Place!
Total Party Count: 18

I've decided I'm totally into hosting parties at my apt, because I can stay home and still go to a party a day! Last night we threw a sort of last-minute surprise mini-party for Lil' Kevs birthday at my place, but kevin, even with my stalling, got there before just about everyone else and I was forced to greet kevin with maybe the worst kind of surprise. SURPRISE-- NOBODY CARES ABOUT YOU!!

Well soon enough my party co-chair cassie arrived with the brownies & the party hats and the lombardi's delivery guy arrived with our delicious pizzas, and the merriment was underway!!

Balla snoring in my bed!

Joint-Birthday Sushi Party

The Party: Kip & Kev's Joint Birthday Dinner
Location: Sapporo Haru Sushi / 31 Flavs
Total Party Count: 17

Theres a little magical spot in greenpoint called "sapporo haru," perhaps more commonly referred to as "unlimited sake." This was unsurprisingly the locale of choice for Kip & Kevin's Joint Birthday Dinner. It was a delightful affair and everyone was on their best behavior, patiently waiting and waiting and waiting before eating for caycee's spicy salmon to arrive. Eventually it arrived in the form of friend rice, but hey, close enough. I later suggested in a hushed tone that we order dessert with a birthday candle but the idea was scoffed at like I was some kind of giant loser!! Whatevs. Sorry 4 caring!!
Afterwards we went to the baskin robbins/ dunkin donuts combo store and Kip got this bad boy:
I looked it up on the 31 flavs website.... 1000 cals. My birthday isn't far away-- I think I'm gonna save up some points and cash them in for the big prize too.
